RAVE THE CAPITAL: The Commodification of Modern day Raves

  • Natasha Montemurro

The creative direction explores the commercialisation of rave culture through a series of material objects. The collection of printed posters, merchandise and tickets allude to the original fundamentals of eighties and nineties rave culture - amplifying the methods of communication and promotion of the rave subculture that still exists today, but in an applied context. Around London, I collected objects that foreshadow the authentic rave experience; demonstrating a series of various prints, designs, aesthetics that highlight the diversity of raves. Each object on the garment recollects a memory of rave story - experiences collected through my research and exploration into the European subculture.
