Rays Kitchen

Research and Innovation was a project I undertook at University, which was designed to engage innovation and creative thinking. My personal aim was to introduce a new concept to the area, bringing creativity and art back to Carnaby Street as well as to ensure that my idea linked into the qualities on which the area prides itself; individuality, uniqueness, quality and experience. My creative concept was to enhance the food area of Kingly Court, within Carnaby Street, by introducing a new independent restaurant to the area. The restaurant, ‘Rays Kitchen’, is a British seasonal eatery, which focuses on immersing you into the transitions of the four seasons. Gradually evolving, the interior aims to captivate all your senses as Winter changes into Spring then Summer and finally into Autumn. This sensory vision is created through the use of technology, lighting, and the collaboration of artists Olafur Eliasson, Rebecca Louise Law and Graham McPherson. The seasonal changing menu will evolve alongside the interior, containing innovative dishes that are made up of locally sourced British ingredients and flavours of each season, from traders at London's Borough Market. Below are examples of the menu mockup, interior ideas, website and press release.
