Read My World Bookclub

Read My World is a platform that focuses on literature and spoken world, on an international level. They recently started a bookclub, where they have an open dialogue about a chosen book. For the bookclub I created the visual identity and made templates for Instagram.

This project was interesting to do, because the products had to be made in a relatively short period. The bookclub had a certain launch date, so it was a strict deadline that had to be achieved. In just a few days, I created the logo, selected a font and created templates for Instagram. It had to have a familiar feeling to Read My World self, so that the users would be able to connect the two platforms and know they are related.
When I thought about the project and what it needs to communicate, I immediately thought of gradients and round flow like shapes. The combination of the two, symbolize people opening up and interacting with each other. Going with wherever the conversation goes, and become at that moment a collective off like-minded people who are interested in that particular book that is been discussed at that moment.

I started experimenting with shapes and gradients, so I could capture the abstract idea of not knowing where a conversation might go. The colors are bold and vibrant. Just like the target group. Instead of using closed round solid shapes, I left an opening. With that idea, I want to communicate that there is always room for more like minded people and words that amplifies the conversation.

The shapes can be used separate or together.
After making the logo, I went on and started making the templates for Instagram. The templates contains three versions for the feed and for story. All are based on the idea of tabs. Tabs that are sometimes on top of a page in a book. It was important that the tabs didn’t took too much space, so they are not too wide. With that there is still a lot of room for the image itself.

Considering that the tabs will be placed over different types of images, I found it important to create multiple versions of the tabs, so that there will be flexibility in choosing the best one that suites the background image.
