Reclaim Holloway

'Reclaim Holloway' is a grassroots coalition fighting for Holloway's 8 acre site (which use to be a women's prison) to be used for collective good. I worked as a volunteer graphic designer and created the below infographic flyer on how developing a new community centre (as opposed to a new luxury residential development) in Islington will benefit the neighbourhood and its residents. The work you'll see below was a collaboration between myself (graph designer), London School of Economics and Political Science (who gathered much of the data as well as created the cross-section building illustration) and members of Reclaim Holloway (who provided the artist's render of how they imagine the future Women's Centre could be).

"Holloway, the largest women's prison in Western Europe, has now closed.
Its residents have been rushed to overcrowded, unfit facilities outside of London.
The 8 acres of land Holloway sits on are being prepared for sale, likely to be developed into luxury flats.
This is first example of the government's current programme to shut old prisons, sell the land, and build new mega prisons outside of big cities.
Local people, Londoners, former Holloway prisoners need these acres for themselves."
