Redesign and development of website for nursing education nonprofit

  • Tim Hart

https://www.jacksonortho.org Jackson Orthopedic Foundation (JOF) is a nonprofit in California that provides continuing education for nurses and other clinicians, as well as offer health-careers guidance to university students. Its old website did a fair job of providing information and facilitating donations, but it needed to do much more. In addition to needing a more contemporary look and feel, our site also needed to be more mobile-friendly and bring several vital operational, educational and financial functions “under the hood” without them necessarily being visible to users. The site also needed to be brought into government compliance for accessibility. We did a comprehensive review of JOF’s business goals and operational needs and created wireframes and a site map to fit, including key integrations to address the need for diverse functionality. The new, responsive site now includes : - Easy online donation options (monthly and one time gifts) -Integrations with: nonprofit CRM platform Little Green Light for donor and constituent relations; MailChimp for list building and marketing; -Calendly for scheduling; a ClickDesk chatbot to automate on site queries; and Stripe and PayPal for payment and donation processing -An online shopping cart for easy purchasing of courses, workshops, and event tickets -A refreshed blog to better tell JOF’s story and facilitate social sharing of articles -Multiple sign up forms all tied into the CRM to facilitate course registration, intern and scholarship applications, volunteering, donations, event participation and more -A hosted webinar video that enables nurses to download a CEU certificate immediately after viewing -Popups to help direct visitors to priority site areas -Dedicated pages for special fundraising campaigns and research projects -Updated , more succinct copy, including testimonials from nurses , students and donors -Easier navigation with clear “call to action” buttons -A fresh, engaging layout that takes full advantage of JOF’s colorful brand palette -An accessibility upgrade including the UserWay widget, an accessibility statement and careful attention to accessible fonts and alt tags on images
