Rollin’ with the Girls is a series I've been working on for a little while. A diverse group of girls in Leeds created a skateboard group to empower and boost the confidence of female skaters. The watchwords here are inclusivity and encouragement. When one of them learns to drop in, or to ollie for the first time, it’s a victory for all. They aren’t trying to beat the men at their own game, or even become equals in it. They are refreshingly unconcerned about competitions and placings… These women are creating their own vision of skate scene, where a sense of family and belonging far outweigh the thrill of being the best.
