Romance in Virtual Reality

The brothers Lumière film ”L’arrivée d’un train à la gare de la Ciotat” created a sensation back in 1896. The legend goes that the audience panicked when they saw a train coming directly at them. For my first virtual reality film I have recreated a 3D model of the Ciotat station and the arrival of the train. My goal was to create the same thrill the public had in 1896 - but in a today's Virtual Reality headset. The camera also follows a couple happily in love as together they discover virtual spaces inspired by de Chirico’s metaphysical perspectives and Monet’s color palette.
