Photographic abstraction of modern architecture
Brief – Architectural photography has grown significantly in recent years. Usually it’s about photographing buildings and similar structures that are both aesthetically pleasing and accurate representations of their subjects as opposed to physical, spatial experiences.
Insight – Buildings contain hundreds of intricate little details that are lost when an entire facade or room is shot in one frame. Exploring details up close could reveal something new about the building’s charm and shows another interesting and inscrutable side of its appearance.
Idea – The idea is to go beyond the pure reproduction of a building and develop an artistic language to create a very abstract imagery with nicely shaped patterns. It experiments with perspective, converging verticals, camera standpoints as well as composition and framing.
