Rural Landscapes in Colour

  • Lydia Halsall

This project explores the moods and atmospheres of local landscapes, using cotton yarns to develop a collection of samples informed by a series of paintings. These paintings picked upon the subtle colours in rural landscapes emphasising their colours giving them richness. The context for the samples was rugs and hard furnishings. A warp with high ends per inch resulted in durable, hardwearing fabrics. The samples were woven on a 16 shaft tabletop loom at home.
