Sanlam Shop for Good

Many South Africans take for granted that all schools have the essentials their learners need. This is not always the case. In many schools across South Africa, hungry learners, inadequate facilities and few classroom essentials compromise our children’s education and ultimately, their futures. The Sanlam Blue Ladder Schools project aims to change this. We created a way for everyone to help. We gave South Africa the best kind of retail therapy – the chance to shop for good. We used traditional retail media and spaces designed for South Africans to spend on themselves and got them to shop for the greater good. Our Shop for Good campaign comprised a printed catalogue inserted into the Sunday Times, shopforgood.co.za – a responsive online shop, shoppable ads on social media, and a pop-up shop put up at events. Shop for Good gives South Africans the chance to shop quickly and easily via SnapScan in the catalogue and pop-up shop, or by adding items to an online shopping basket on the website. Through Shop for Good, an innovative campaign that offers a unique retail experience, we hope to make a real difference in Sanlam Blue Ladder Schools and to education in our country, today and well into the future. The Sanlam Shop for Good website won a Bookmarks (Bronze) for Microsites in 2019.
