I was commissioned to document the work of Nermina Alić, one of a handful of traditional coppersmiths in Sarajevo, and the only woman working in the profession. Nermina grew up in the workshop of her father, who was a master coppersmith during Yugoslav times. Later studying at Sarajevo's Academy of Fine Arts, Nermina took over her father's business after his retirement, and carries on the family's well known local and international reputation for producing high quality Bosnian coffee pots, homewares and jewellery. The project was commissioned by Co/Rizom, an NGO that supports and develops the work of small, traditional artisans in post communist countries.
