About me
My journey as a storyteller was inspired by childhood trips with my mountaineer grandfather, who introduced me to the wonders of the natural world, while sharing tales of the people and places from his adventurous life. He sparked in me a curiosity for travel, respect for different cultures and a strong desire to protect the environment. As a documentary photographer, my personal work explores the close relationship between people and place. I have been working in the Western Balkans since 2013, when I first came to the region and discovered there was far more here than the stereotypes of war, ethnic divisions and the disarray of post-communism. Since then I have been sharing stories that shed light on the beauty of the Balkans, its unique cultural heritage, pristine environments and the struggle to preserve all three. I have been pleased to work with a range of NGOs, editorial and commercial clients including: Reuters, Vice, Die Zeit, Le Monde, Patagonia, British Airways, The World Health Organization, Libération, De Standaard, Nieuwe Revu, Huck Magazine,The Calvert Journal, SUITCASE Magazine, Point.51, Trip Advisor, Eco Albania, Euronatur, Riverwatch, and Culture Trip. Based between Belfast, Northern Ireland and Tirana, Albania. I am available for editorial or commercial assignments throughout the UK and Western Balkans.

The Big Impact of Small-Scale HydropowerOver 3500 hydropower dams are planned or in various stages of construction around the Western Balkans, which contains some of the last untouched river systems and truly wild nature in Europe. The majority of these projects are so called "small hydropower" installations, with an energy output of less than 10 Megawatts. Despite their name, small hydropower installations often leave a large impact on the surrounding environment and ecosystem, in some cases diverting up to 95% of a river's flow to r

Point.51 Magazine - Issue 04: NationsI was a contributing editor for Issue 4 of Point.51 Magazine, exploring the theme of "Nations" and seeking to explore questions like; What makes a nation? And what does it mean to feel that you belong to one nation – and not another? I commissioned photographers for two stories in this issue, and was involved in layout designs and text editing.
  • Sarajevo's Lone Female Coppersmith for Co/Rizom
Sarajevo's Lone Female Coppersmith for Co/RizomI was commissioned to document the work of Nermina Alić, one of a handful of traditional coppersmiths in Sarajevo, and the only woman working in the profession. Nermina grew up in the workshop of her father, who was a master coppersmith during Yugoslav times. Later studying at Sarajevo's Academy of Fine Arts, Nermina took over her father's business after his retirement, and carries on the family's well known local and international reputation for producing high quality Bosnian coffee pots, home
