SAUERKRAUT

  • Daniel Amoakoh

A short film created for Guido Mosch, a Black British designer. Director, Editor, Colourist, Art Director - all by Daniel Amoakoh. Note from the designer: “The name ‘sAUERKRAUT’ was taken from a painting by James Gillray “Germans eating sauerkraut” which hung in my living room flat in Clapham. This film touches on hegemonic masculinity & femininity, religion, family, immigration and also battles with sexuality in Ghanaian culture while also clashing with the streets of South London. I used organic printed denim, Japanese denim and a shibori technique from Dexter Wong on Moncler nylon to emote the 90s feel I wanted to portray. I also sourced dead stock leather to achieve the vintage worn feel for look 7. Each scene and look correlates to a family member who was living in my childhood flat.” Director - @di.artha DOP - @annadobos Producer - @_natawho Gaffer - @lightingbyjoe Hairstylist - @ksleek_ Make-up Artist - @noemie.ade Art Director - @di.artha Editor & Colourist - @di.artha Production Assistant - @dienanknowsbest Catering - Melanin Kitchen Cast @snilcaasi @dnieccio @tintla_da_moonwalker @kamilaholadapo @eeeeugenie @sha_sha512 @jackgthomas Special Thanks @dienanknowsbest @venarielle @kingsjon @somersethouse @kartelbrown @mccollywood @garethpughstudio Link to full credits: https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf_LFrnIo75/
