Saving The River Meadow

  • Richard Lowe

I produced this film as part of a Video Production unit at London Metropolitan University. This film was the first film I'd produced, and barring the soundtrack, was created, directed and produced entirely by myself. Saving The River Meadow is centered around the controversial issue of sewage outflows, which pose a risk to the unique ecology of the river chess, a river that flows through my hometown of Chesham. Whilst the administrative and organisational side of the project was second nature to me, this project allowed me to develop my skills as a scriptwriter (the strength of the script was something I have been consistently complimented on), but also as a cinematographer and producer/editor. Whilst the project is very much rough and ready, it was an excellent way of familiarising myself with the workflow of creating film/video content, and helped me develop a newfound interest in filmmaking. If interested, here is the accompanying account of production, research and critical reflection I produced for the unit: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13aiG2K6uQjVbStfeByZWpOp6yVQUmFm-/view?usp=sharing
