Concept
In 2018, we had a wonderful chance to become part of the annual tech conference Scalapeño. It is arranged for the software engineers programming in the Scala language.
The event began on our way to the conference venue, in the train. This time it was held in the Israeli desert Be'er Sheva. We admired the surroundings and opted to depict them in the website design.
We chose the desert theme, but not in the traditional combination of sandy colors. We picked up bright modern gradients instead laying emphasis on a pepper-like, flame-colored scene. Each design element is part of this desert journey you go on while scrolling the website.
Logo
Here comes the logo. We tried our best to make it look fiery through the dynamic motion of the waves. As a result, we found a symbiosis between simplicity and smoothness of the lines and made the logo look minimalist and voluminous.
Typography
We used light style font, Avenir. Simple, yet complete forms perfectly supplement the entire
website design.
Colors
We made every effort to add some vivid, saturated colors. What we aimed to do was to leave standard associations behind and revive every design element and the whole landscape. See how each color shade works on the website.
Illustrations
When it comes to illustrations, we are getting too picky and scrupulous. For Scalapeño, we drew all the illustrations from the original photos rendering their complex structure. It was important to restore every detail in the illustration architecture for the convenient volume layout.
Branding
The Glyphers also developed a series of the branded materials including stickers, t-shirts, badges for the conference participants, and the conference flag.
