Sky Sports – Start of Season

  • Steve Fowler

Targeting all football fans to kick off the Premier League season.

The Brief

Sky Sports wanted to kick off the start of the Premier League season by producing a range of social and digital content that targeted different football fan demographics as well as sparking conversation on social media to get people hyped for the new football season.

The Approach

For social media there were many different creative projects being developed at the same time that i was directly working on (see below), i even created a teaser video for the main TVC spot that David Beckham posted out on his social media feeds.

As well as social content, i worked on designing digital web banners and Digital OOH 6 sheets promote big weekends of football, highlighting Premier League fixtures only on Sky Sports.

The Result

Working on the ‘Start of the Season’ campaign for Sky Sports enabled me to work across a large variety of media platforms whilst both being creative and also taking ideas and content, making them into finished products for client distribution.

New Features

Aimed at the more hardcore football fan, Sky Sports pundits were interviewed answering questions about their thoughts on the upcoming season whilst selling in the new features available. These videos were distributed on social media across Facebook and Twitter.

What Happens Next?

What Happens Next? was created to initiate conversation between all football fans on Facebook. The campaign began with the release of multiple videos using clips from the previous Premier League season.
After the release of the first wave of videos i would receive clips from the weekends’ matches that i could use to create reactive videos in the same style to be distributed on Facebook in order to create a relevant conversation point for football fans.

What’s More Likely?

What’s More Likely was created to be aimed at more casual/light hearted football fans on social media. The initial idea for What’s More Likely was to create a quick fire game show with Sky Sports personalities, giving them two (absurd) options that they had to pick which was more believable.
