With the tagline “Slip it on”, Frost’s campaign for Aids Council of NSW (ACON) took inspiration from 1960s pop art and Australian-grown waxed-tipped bananas. The design references safe-sex programs that use bananas to show how condoms are put on. As an extension of this the tag line adds “dom” to ACON, creating the line ACONdom.
Frost managed to deliver a million dollar campaign on a tiny budget. Key to this was asking brands already advertising to the target audience to include the logo in their advertising. A range of high profile brands, including sportswear label team8 and Davenport, have helped to extend the safe sex message beyond gay venues. Frost developed a fun game as a playful way to get the safe sex message across.
The aim of the game is to catch a condom with a moving banana before you catch a mouth, a bum or an STD. Play the game at www.acondom.org
