designjunction is the leading exhibition for contemporary interior design and culture and coincides with London Design Festival annually. In 2016 Crown were commissioned by Sony Design Centre Europe to design and build an exhibition space to showcase a number of premium home and lifestyle electronic products in conjunction with renowned design emporium Conran. We understood instinctively that the focus for the space should be akin to the signature Conran aesthetic; modern, warm and aspirational, reflective of the taste and trends of design led urban families.
It was essential that there was a perfect design harmony between the interior aesthetic and showcasing the products capabilities. Projection and sound were the focus so we created two distinct home environments separated by an exaggerated staircase that alluded to ‘upstairs’ and also gave us a perfect platform for a Conran dressed central feature abundant with plants and lifestyle props.
The build presented two key challenges; the need for a seamless back wall for optimum 4k projection and how best to control the ambient lighting in an exhibition space outside of our control. The overall result was a beautifully executed space which garnered a huge amount of attention and was cited by designjunction organisers as the ‘most photographed’ stand at the show.
