Southampton City Council: Recruitment Social Media Presence

  • Lilli King

Tasked with bringing a social media presence to the City Council's recruitment team I designed a range of template adverts to routinely publicise vacancies in an easily digestible and aesthetically pleasing form. I decided to use images of key local areas and landmarks in order to demonstrate our connection to the community and how the vacancies can link to the smooth functioning of local society. I incorporated use of the brand colours and council slogan to bring an all together stronger brand presence to social media. These adverts accompanied a brief piece of copy stylised for each platform; LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter. Creating and using these advert templates became part of my daily role as did scheduling the adverts for the marketing of vacancies for the Council. I have since trained the recruitment team in using the software to create their own adverts from the templates and in using the different social media platforms more effectively. I also used these adverts in the monthly job bulletins that I sent out to over 3000 subscribers in and around the city. These email bulletins receive a consistent 32 - 35% open rate.
