SPINEXPO Collaboration

Alongside my graduate collection I completed an outside brief set by SPINEXPO, a yarn trade show. I worked to theme of ‘Modern Vintage’ in which the brief was about using the yarns in innovative ways to reduce unwanted waste going to landfill. I decided to design patchwork style fabric to highlight all the yarns and to complement the theme of mismatched patterns and colours. I did this by creating a block draft in which I placed different lifting plans, then alternated colours accordingly. Collaborating with a fashion accessories student for this project was successful in that despite knowing little about each other’s disciplines, we were able to achieve a final product made to a high standard. I was chosen to represent Nottingham Trent at SPINEXPO in March 2019, showcasing my work alongside others who had taken part in the brief.
