About me
Currently a graduate student at Nottingham Trent University studying BA (Hons) Textile Design Degree, specialising in woven textiles, with a particular interest in designing for well-being and addressing social stigmas. I am a confident dobby cloth weaver with additional skills in both hand and machine embroidery. Within my design work I am aesthetically driven, with an eye for creating cohesive colour palettes and a love for intricate detail. Alongside my design work I am completing a conference paper and piece of journalism to complement my collection. Research has had a strong underpinning to my project as a whole. Aspirations to enter the field of Buying, Merchandising and fabric sourcing whilst being in a creative environment.
Projects
  • SPINEXPO Collaboration
SPINEXPO CollaborationAlongside my graduate collection I completed an outside brief set by SPINEXPO, a yarn trade show. I worked to theme of ‘Modern Vintage’ in which the brief was about using the yarns in innovative ways to reduce unwanted waste going to landfill. I decided to design patchwork style fabric to highlight all the yarns and to complement the theme of mismatched patterns and colours. I did this by creating a block draft in which I placed different lifting plans, then alternated colours accordingly. Col
  • SELFHOOD
SELFHOODSELFHOOD aims to provide tranquillity to the user through soft and fluid materials. Creating a sense of serenity is important in an environment full of social stigmas and expectations, especially when it comes to what we wear. The fabrics I design will be for a high-end A/W menswear collection, with a strong link to men’s well-being, recognising the pressures men face and aim to design thoughtfully and with consideration. SELFHOOD is a high end, luxury fashion brand with a focus on using wools

     - Nottingham, United Kingdom
After my first year at NTU I specialised my second and third year in woven textiles. The methodical process and the construction of the cloth was a process that really engaged my working style and my design aesthetic. Weave has allowed me to grow my knowledge of yarns, both natural and synthetic, and how these are appropriate for different fashion applications. My graduate collection is titled SELFHOOD, this is a hand woven menswear fashion collection aimed to provide comfort and tranquillity for the user whilst battling social stigmas and well-being issues men face in the 21st century.

     - Leeds, United Kingdom
Studied at Leeds Arts University on there art and design foundation. Through a series of small projects and tasks I found that my way of approaching these was from a pattern and textile point of view. This helped me to then choose what I would like to pursue at degree level.

Scholarship AwardThe Worshipful Company of Weavers
Submitting two portfolio slides of current projects, at the time, I was awarded scholarship money to help fund my final year collection. This has helped massively as I was able to purchase high end lambswool yarns to give my collection a luxury feel and aesthetic. The money also helped towards other course costs.
