‘‘Spiritualism as a Lived Experience: Exploring the Spiritual Practices of Marie Laveau and Maya Angelou.’’

A yearlong dissertation exploring the indigenous African spiritual practices of voodoo priestess Marie Laveau and renowned literary figure, Maya Angelou. This thesis looks to explore how these syncretic practices, unified Laveau and Angelou while equipping them with an agency that led them to sustain relationships and build communities.
