Summer impeccably captures a significant fact that all creative industry workers tend to forget: one of the most helpful parts of the work process is when you’re not working. Alive and awake to the world, we amass a collection of cross-disciplinary building blocks — knowledge, memories, bits of information, sparks of inspiration, and other existing ideas — that we then combine and recombine, mostly unconsciously, into something new. When we’re idle, it doesn’t look like we’re doing much. But mentally, the exact opposite is true.
