The challenge was to create a strong and definitive image for the show. Early routes explored a much more heavily layered, collage-style direction, concepts that were more period in feel, as well as routes more inspired by modern graffiti. Over time we gradually stripped these ideas back, allowing the cast photo to become more prominent whilst maintaining the paint as a contrasting element. The graffiti approach was adapted into a more paintbrush style effect, with excerpts of original, handwritten letters between the Pankhurst family overlayed in the background. The result was a vibrant image which reflected the staging of the production and showcased the strength of the characters. Designed with Hollie Marshall. Photography by Chantel King.
