"Tethered" showcases the diverse artistic expressions that have been flourishing in the Haringey and Hackney Warehouse districts through vivid visual narratives and personal testimonials. The exhibition serves as a compelling testament to the collaborative, close-knit warehouse community and the transformative power of these spaces as hubs of creativity and resilience even in the face of looming gentrification and redevelopment threats. Curated by resident artists Tasalla Tabasom and Romane Courdacher, the exhibition spotlights 10 local artists sharing a diverse range of artistic expressions nurtured by these spaces. From paintings and photographs to mixed media and sculpture, the exhibition invites visitors to experience the atmosphere, challenges, and inspirations of creating art within the warehouses. Beyond celebrating the district's artistic legacy, the exhibition also sheds light on the urgent threats currently facing the community. By profiling the experiences of resident artists whose livelihoods are rooted in these spaces, the exhibition provides a platform to raise awareness about the potential impacts of displacement. In highlighting what could be lost if these creative hubs succumb to redevelopment, the organisers hope to mobilise public support and galvanise action towards preserving and sustaining the warehouse arts community. They aim to achieve this by fostering dialogue through interactive events that engage the public, as well as seeking partnerships with local organisations to collaborate on amplifying the message. For over 20 years, the warehouse district has been a hive of artistic collaboration and alternative living, Through this exhibition, we hope to share the creations and narratives that have emerged from these spaces over the years, while showing why it's so vital to preserve them.
