Esther Greenwood is trapped underneath a bell jar. Separated from the real world by layer upon layer of crushing expectation, she gives an account of her descent into a madness which threatens to consume her whole.
Thrust's adaptation of Sylvia Plath's only novel is an ambitious mixed-media production, following on from 6 Characters In Search Of An Author in 2012. Development of the project has been facilitated by Middlesex University, where The Bell Jar opened the Apple Core Festival in January 2013 for a strictly limited run of three performances.
