The Bower Monologues 02: Through the looking glass
For the second edition of 'The Bower Monologues' I was asked to illustrate an article looking at the surrealist themes of escape in Alice's adventures in wonderland in modern life and media.
Drawn by hand, i recreated the illustrations by John Tenniel from the classic iteration then took fashion inspiration for the digital render from a Vogue shoot by Annie Leibovitz - itself inspired by the tale. (See at the end of the post)
Meshing the classic stylings of Tenniel’s iconic work with modern fashion and sensibilities worked well, and helped express the main content of the article.
