The Female Gaze

I initiated and ran a series of talks for Photo London exploring the concept of the female gaze and gender representation in photography.

The Arts & photography editor of Dazed, Ashleigh Kane and the Arts & Culture editor from Gal-Dem, Micha Frazer-Carroll, invited artists Jade Jackman and Aisha Pegley to discuss their work and how it can be contextualised within the concept of the female gaze, gender representation & contemporary art world.

Hannah Watson, the director of TJ Boulting Gallery moderated a discussion between Eliza Hatch, artist and founder of the Instagram ‘Cheer Up Luv’ and Katy Hessel, curator and founder of the Instagram ‘@greatwomenartists’ in which they discussed their work and the ways they have focussed on Instagram to respectively draw attention to every day sexism and under recognized voices in the art world.

Screening of Chloe’s first film ‘A Much Better Illusion’, after which Ione Gamble, the editor in chief of Polyester zine and Chloe discussed this work and how it deals with such themes as body positivity and identity on film, the aesthetics of girlhood and nostalgia and the influence of community on Chloe’s career as a young, emerging artist.
