The High Line

  • Lucy Dover

This is an image that I captured whilst in New York. I found the picture quite striking as it depicts the loneliness that can come from living in a city. Even when surrounded by buildings, isolation can still be possible. The more I look at this photograph, the more I begin to wonder about the life of the woman I captured. Perhaps she was a failed Broadway star, who once donned the stage in sparkly gowns, or a retired fashion designer who once strutted the Manhattan streets in red stilettos. And yet she is now here, a nano second of her life captured in a single photograph. Lonely.
