The Lights are On

‘The Lights are On’ was a self initiated project with my partner in crime over at Thick Strings Pictures. Using real sets and some photomontage in post production, we wanted to create a subtly surreal space using a picture of found objects and hand crafted paper pieces. Our image seeks to place the viewer in a place in between things. Physically, we straddle nature’s warm exteriors and a starkly man made interior with our place in time similarly on the dividing line. This is instant the lights of our manufactured world flicker on as night approaches: the moment we accept the oncoming dark and turn to the synthetic to keep us seeing. We used the Fujifilm GFX50s with two Elichrom 500 flash heads.
