  • Campaign for Penhaligon's
Campaign for Penhaligon'sMy team and I at ThickStrings Pictures were commissioned by world renowned Perfume brand Penhaligon’s to create a run of images for the launch of their most recent fragrance 'The World According to Arthur’. Working closely with our client to refine our concept for the campaign we designed three sets and utilised hand built props to create photographs that represent a product but also tell the story of a Character. So, here’s to Arthur. A rebellious fellow who’s wanderlust is only matched by his

  • Three Rings by Ciara Bowles
Three Rings by Ciara BowlesWhen my partner over at Thick Strings Pictures and I were tasked with creating a series of images for Jeweller Ciara Bowles, we knew we would have to let the pieces dictate our approach and not the other way round. The works wear their influences on the sleeve and while there is certainly a Boroque style use of decadent detail, we felt that at the very core of the work was a fascination with the ancient. Using hand crafted architectural forms we created classically inspired environments for the
  • The Lights are On
The Lights are On‘The Lights are On’ was a self initiated project with my partner in crime over at Thick Strings Pictures. Using real sets and some photomontage in post production, we wanted to create a subtly surreal space using a picture of found objects and hand crafted paper pieces. Our image seeks to place the viewer in a place in between things. Physically, we straddle nature’s warm exteriors and a starkly man made interior with our place in time similarly on the dividing line. This is instant the lights
  • Drawings
Drawings'I prefer drawing to talking. Drawing is faster, and leaves less room for lies' - Le Corbusier No matter what I am working on, a drawing is always my starting point. Visualising ideas on paper can order even the most most confusing collection of ideas and make the next steps appear obvious. Wether it be a tool for communication, a way of solidifying ones ideas or a means of pure fun: drawing is sacred.
  • Architectural Plains for Ottowin Footwear
Architectural Plains for Ottowin FootwearAs Co-creative Director and Photographer on this shoot, I saw the process of making through from start to finish. I wanted to create an environment that brought the product's hand made qualities to the for: the subtle texture in the leather; the undulations in the stitching; the signs of the maker. To do this I choose to contrast the boots with a colourful but constant plain of simple architectural forms and to create a surrounding world within which the shoes themselves are at once a strong pre

  • Thickstrings x Sunnamusk
Thickstrings x SunnamuskCommissioned by Sunnamusk London, Thick Strings pictures were tasked with creating three images to represent the fragrance house’s line of scents. Our initial conversations with the brand made it clear that these images had to be an ode to Islamic architecture and create, in visuals, the sense of their expertly crafted Arabian scents. Conjuring images of not only spice filled aromas, but also the freshness captured in some of their signature fragrances. The following images used one modular

Penhaligons Portrait's Pleasure BallCommissioned by Penhaligon’s London, ThickStrings Pictures were tasked with bringing life to the ‘Portraits Pleasure Ball’ a fictional party thrown by the illustrious Lord George and attended by many others from animal headed run of fragrances known as the portraits collection. “Lord George and Lady Blanche request your company at the most anticipated event of the year, where an evening of love, lust and fragrance awaits you. So, grab love by the bottle and acquaint yourself with the most cove
  • The park bench
The park benchCreated entirely from paper this project was an exercise both making and creative lighting here at Thickstrings studio. A one off image, without any product, sometimes it's nice just to create lovely things.
  • Thickstrings Pictures X Penhalogin's
Thickstrings Pictures X Penhalogin'sTo celebrate the launch of the latest instalment of the 'portraits collection' by Penhalogin's, ThickStrings Pictures was commissioned to create a series of jaw dropping 'stories in still life' telling the tale of 'The world According to Arthur'. Each of these images was hand built and designed by the ThickStrings team and photographed by the enormously talented head of photography Jack Farrell.
  • Thickstrings x Sophie Breitmeyer
Thickstrings x Sophie BreitmeyerArt, Literature and Fashion are all key inspirations for Jewellery Designer Sophie Breitmeyer. But, with delicate intricacy and bold use of shape, it is her interest in architecture that really shines through in her work. In her own words, “The details and moments you come across when exploring buildings really stick with me. Patterns always catch my eye, along with bold shapes and intricate details which all set the tone for my jewellery.” Earning herself a name as Nottinghill’s modern-day
