The seven covers were designed with the traditional Lord of the Rings colours in mind and illustrated by Trevin Wyant. The illustrations were commissioned and directed by me to represent major chapters in each book, specifically: Weathertop, A Journey in the Dark (The Doors of Durin), Treebeard, Shelob's Lair, The Battle of the Pelennor Fields, Mount Doom, and finally the Grey Havens.
