The Rose Castle project, Cumbria

  • Paul Kleian

Rose Castle was the palace of the Bishops of Carlisle for over 700 years, before the Church of England sold it in 2017 to internet entrepreneur John Snyder. He bought it as an enterprise with a heart. It was to provide a home for the Rose Castle Foundation, a charity run by his wife, Canon Sarah Snyder but also to provide a unique venue catering for private parties, weddings, exclusive use tourism and secure, confidential business retreats. I lead on research, product development, planning, yield budget preparation and developing the chosen markets. Sadly, circumstances brought the £5million refurbishment to a halt just before Covid 19 struck and the project is on hold.
