THE SECOND SEX

Illustrations inspired by Simone's de Beauvoir's most famous book on feminism: The Second Sex (1949). Each illustration depicts a different way in which women were perceived by society back then in 1949, and also nowadays, and it's directly paired with the quote that inspired it. This series aims to reflect on the role of women throughout history as well as what part men took in building those perceptions.
