The Tragedy of Macbeth

“Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires.” Yaël Farber’s elemental production of Shakespeare tragedy follows a couple spine-chilling quest for power in a post-apocalyptic world at war. The art direction and lighting was inspired by Odd Nerdrum’s paintings, and we went into the shoot with two different approaches, including one over a tank of water, inspired by a flood scene at the end of the production.
