The Wood Life Project is a family-run lifestyle brand that aims to replace everyday plastic items with beautifully designed, eco-friendly, British-made and sourced wooden products with an honest provenance. The Wood Life Project brand encompasses all the values that contribute towards a better future for our planet with beautiful wooden items which are seen and used in our homes every day. All of their products are eco-friendly and sustainable and are made using British-made and British-sourced materials. Co-Founders Jamie and Hazel set up The Wood Life Project as they noticed a huge demand for sustainable alternatives to plastic in the home. Driven by their drive to contribute towards a better world and environment to bring their children up into, The Wood Life Project was born. They build their brand ethos and values into everything they do by going the extra mile - 'unlike other eco-friendly brands who go 1000’s miles to source their products and materials such as bamboo, we go the local mile by sourcing materials from the UK only.' The brief for The Wood Life Project was to create an identity that reflected the brand and its core values. As a business rooted in ethically-sourced wood and sustainability, it was important that the identity felt in-line with the brands' eco-credentials. The brand mark is an amalgamation of a tree ring motif used to create a fingerprint, alluding to the themes of 'wood' and 'life'. It needed to be instantly recognisable and give a sense of what the company is all about from the outset. All of the packaging developed for the brand is part of the Carbon Capture and World Land Trust scheme. In developing the product packaging solutions, a number of considerations had to be made. For example, finding a paper stock that would allow for as little absorption as possible, as the products are treated with a food grade mineral oil which can seep into certain paper stocks. Everything from their products, to the packaging used has been crafted with careful consideration to create a brand identity that is high-end and reflects the quality of the products.
