An installation integrated into an open archway that looks out onto a public square, a central part of the existing building of my college, Chelsea College of Arts. It is a popular outdoor place in the college to sit and hang out, appreciated by the students and members of the public. This space had not been taken care of so well. To make it more inviting as a 'hang out space', I designed my piece with the intention of creating the feeling of a summer house space.
The installation consisted of a sound system with a recording playing on a loop with a 20 min silence break between each repeat. Large format prints were also integrated into the existing structure created from photos of my knees at the beach. Finally, also installed, were two remote controlled roller blinds, tailored for my installation with a design printed onto a semi-transparent material for the blind, animating the static large prints when rolling up and down.
