Thumb Suck Girl

Thumb Suck Girl is an editorial publication I created in 2022, to showcase art, fashion and creative writing from unrepresented female creatives. I have worked and assisted in fashion for years but never really found a space for myself or girls like me and having always made zines and artist publications, I decided to take the skills I have acquired and launch my own venture to champion the work I wanted to see in print. Issue One was themed around Lux Lisbon, the central character of Jeffrey Eugenides' 1999 novel The Virgin Suicides and I posted an open call for creatives to submit art and poetry to this theme. I also conceptualised and creative directed a string of fashion photo editorials along the themes of girlhood, friendship and the loss of innocence. My guest editor for Issue One was fellow poet and artist, Eva Tang, also known as sickacidpuppies, who contributed work, assisted on shoots and with page layout. Thumb Suck Girl is proudly stocked by Books, Peckham, and The Common Press, Shoreditch.
