Time - book design

  • Aneta Burkiewicz
Milestones was a brief written by the International Society of Typographic designers. The challenge was to pick a subject that has existed for a significant amount of time and contextualize its milestones through design. My book explores the milestones of how we measure time. The book is designed in chronological order so that the reader is guided through the history of time keeping by one continuous time line. Throughout the chapters you learn about subjects such as, what is time and how do we divide it, the history of the devices we’ve used to measure time and time periods, the measuring of unimaginable lengths of time. The text is supported by beautiful photographs of the subject, giving the reader an insight into the vast differences in how time keeping developed globally. The book is above all else a learning experience, and so throughout the reader is given little snippets of trivia that keep them curious.
