Titus Andronicus - Shakespeare Production (2024)

  • Monique Blake

I performed the role of 'Titus' in the BRIT school's adaption of the play, 'Titus Andronicus', which was directed by Joey Parsad. We were an all-female cast and were given the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience twice on an outdoor stage. Our company's concept of the play was about women in the business industry and how our patriarchal society limits women's opportunities and forces us into competition against one another. We also explored very sensitive topics such as sexual violence against women. As a company, we worked to raise money through creating magazines (to suit the theme of our show) by modelling for pictures and answering Q&A's as our character. We sold numerous copies so that we could donate the money to a charity that offered instant help to victims of sexual assault.
