At Th Doodle Bar, London from 11 to 19th of March
Programme: Talk+Live Performance, Exhibition & Choreographic Performance
To Be Honest is an experiential seven-day festival, questioning notions of Truth in a world lacking transparency and authenticity. Through a series of artistic collaborations, the festival presents itself as a commentary on the manufactured truth experienced daily. For a week , permanent exhibitions, choreographic performances and discussions are featured to create a dialogue between the diverse identities inhabiting London.
The festival is a platform created by a young artists’ collective, positioning themselves as outsiders of their own realities. Endlessly over-layered relationships of “insider-outsider” reveal hidden truths. While trying to understand the reality, self-realisation ends in a struggle. Where is the truth among the daily dosage of alternative facts and virtual realities? “Real” is a strata of unconfirmed validity influencing the habits, rituals, beliefs and truths.
Talk + Live Performance - ‘Alternative Facts’
In collaboration with: Robin Hunt (Talk) + Andy Dean, David McAlmont (Live Performance)
Presented as a discussion platform that invites multiple fields of creation to investigate the process of manufacturing facts. As facts are in constant evolution, we are exposed to massive amounts of reconstructed information and multiple interpretations. We experience attempts of finding truth in the facts created by ourselves. The scenario of the talk unfolds the over layered notions of objectivity and subjectivity in the creative process; acknowledging the possibility of failure in unlocking the truth.
A series of sound performances expand on the discussion. Cultural interpretations of alternative truths are investigated through sound forms. The performances are a
‘Inside out’ - Exhibition (Installation (object/video/structure))
There are always multiple sides to a story. Our story is Truth: an aspect determined by imagination. It shapes our networks and relations when defining our individuality. Aspects dictating daily behaviour, like facts, social norms and traditions, are created from beliefs justified by the notion of “Truth”. Inside out questions the notions of truth and fact, through a spectrum of interactive art installations and demonstrations conveying political statements.
Cinema Cycle- Video Installation
A conversation between multiple synchronized screenings, showing different interpretations of the “truth as an entity” using a selection of known movies. Truth contains contradictions, which are often in struggle or unity. Understanding this chemistry of opposites is essential to a comprehensive view of reality. This visual reinterpretation of cultural exchange explores fragments of truth in diverse identities, in order to reach a common definition.
Replica 1994 -Interactive Installation
The notion of surveillance is always associated with Power. It has always been tool to insure the dominance of governance to achieve safety and order. Nowadays, it exists in contradiction. Surveillance is used to protect our Democracy and the right be Free. In reaction to that, “Replica 1994” presents itself as a platform for trespassing boundaries. An experimental social space, that positions audience to watch and be watched. A grid of an everyday essential commodity tests our integrity to respect private borders.
Replica 1984- Spatial Installation
An analog(manual) machine of production and modern technologies, reflects on the play between power and freedom. “ Replica 1984” constantly narrates possibilities. All these possibilities are the sources we use to complete tangible theories, facts and truth. Truth is manufactured, its manmade and subjective; it's imposed and adopted. What is perceived is an interpretation of truth. It solely exists, yet thoroughly generated.
Replica 2017- Object Installation
As part of the understanding the fundamental social principles like truth, trust and integrity, these chambers present a direct sarcastic criticism of the political present reality. The current situation offers a lot of contradictions within it. The concepts of actuality and stimulation have become indistinguishable. “ Replica 2017” is a series of the overlaid metaphors presented to unravel the puzzling conditions.
‘The Raw Silence - Rituals of the City’ - Performance
In collaboration with: Malgorzata Dzierzon, Renaud Wiser (New Movement Collective)
Formats: a choreographed performance in two formats throughout the festival: a teaser performance delivered through video installations, and a live choreographic performance.
Rituals of the City is a live performance that engages senses in search of truth. This event has been created in response to the daily obstructions of truth we encounter within contemporary society. Finding truth is an ongoing venture manifested in everyday interactions as we constantly try to self-define. We find ourselves roaming around vague boundaries, alternating positions between insiders and outsiders, adding found layers to our own identity (our truth). Throughout this process, an urge to maintain equilibrium is strengthened by holding on to the rituals, cycles and rhythms of urban daily life.
OA is an art collaborative of 5 uprising artist, who defined themselves as outsiders understanding the notions of truth, trust and intergrity in the City of London. In each project each member explored different tasks and roles.
In this project the main role I've explored putting the whole pieces together to present one show of a diverse programme. I've worked on curating the show and on the spatial design/exhibition design. I also was part of the team who worked on "Replica 1994", "Replica 1984" and "Cinema Cycle" pieces.
