the transform exhibition was part of the london design festival 2017 celebrating traditional japanese craftsmanship. during a five-week project, students from university of the arts london and bunkyo gakuin university lived with their makers learning their craft as well as developing and "transforming" new ideas and products for a global market.
the network of patterns within the visual identity takes inspiration from the intricate wood-block prints that can be found on traditional japanese textile designs. these motifs were refined to create a series of elements that can be extended and adapted to form multiple visual arrangements.
