As part of my Level 5 unit, Event Projects, I created and managed a live event on behalf of a community client. Working in a team with 3 other students, we created a brand new concept for Sale Sharks Rugby club to entice local university students to experience Rugby. I came up with the concept of the Try-Uni Cup, a varsity style competition between local university students attending our event. We offered student-only deals, transport to and from universities as well as food deals at the AJ Bell stadium (pie and a pint). We created a fan-zone area on the 3G Pitch next to the main stadium with pre-match games such as Touch rugby and dodgeball. These were taken with great joy by our attendees as the 2 top teams were invited to the pitch for a kick-off in front of the teams and a packed out stadium! The event was a great success with 100% of our attendees and volunteers wanting a repeat of our event in the future. The event was a great insight into a major event for a sports client, as well as outreach with students, and gaining some skills in digital marketing and social media promotions.
