Knitting Glucose

  • Lila Bernstein-Newman

Devising systems to encode my personal diabetes data into knitted garments and accessories. I enjoy physicalising data and translating it into something tangible. High blood sugar, low blood sugar, rapidly rising blood sugar etc all make my body feel a certain way. From anxious and shaky to tired, sad and sluggish. I often use landmark days, such as the relaxing of lockdown in the UK or a particularly bad day for me as points to immortalise in textiles. Within the data encoded into the knitted pieces are clues to my physical and mental wellbeing during these time periods. Find more at: @lila_bn_design
