UK ONLINE VOTING SYSTEM

  • Shane Finegan

Imagining the UK implements online voting. This solution caters predominately to an age group 18-35 and adapts to how they consume content so they can make a better-informed decision.

SmartMatic (they create and offer electronic voting technology and services designed to make elections easier to audit and transparent) & WebRoots Democracy (campaign for online voting) reported 45% of 18-24 year olds & 28% of 25-34 year olds who did not vote during the EU referendum would have been more likely if they could have voted online. That equated to 1.1 million votes that could have been cast.
If online voting was implemented in the U.K, there would still be the problem that there is too much information to consume, especially for a generation which has proven it is disengaged by politics. This voting solution caters to this age group and adapts to how they consume content forcing political parties to get straight to the point in a last bid to win votes.
