"Universal Heartbreak" Music Video

The piece was really inspired by Nan Goldin’s photographs, especially “Ballad of Sexual Dependency”, and separately by Pre-Raphaelite paintings, specifically Henry Wallis’s “The Death of Chatterton”. Also 90s luxury fashion ads of sad, sexy models. For the exterior NYC shots the intro sequence to “Manhattan” was my main inspiration; So, lots of 1990s nostalgia at play. I was after a nostalgic melancholy and wanted the video to feel like u were intruding on an intimate moment. I wanted that feeling of looking at an old printed photo of you and your friends, or an ex-lover, and having to like, grasp at your chest because the emotion is too much.
