Valentines on Eurostar

  • Sandika Dhawan
A promotions and advertising brief to promote Valentine's Day on Eurostar.

The concept focuses on the ticketing element of the experience and finding out where one is going. As a promotional offer, customers would be able to buy a surprise ticket for their loved one to receive a Eurostar monogrammed envelope which would include a set of origami instructions. By completing the instructions, the surprise destination would be revealed.

The process started off looking at 3D origami models such as monuments, progressing into simpler, more compact final designs. The origami heart has easy to follow instructions and conforms with the Valentine's theme, so a net with scattered graphics was resolved so the graphics assemble in the centre of the heart to reaveal the holiday destination, via a tell-tale icon. This would be included in the mail, accompanied by instructions.

The set of instructions have 14 easy steps to follow, highlighting the line of fold to further aid and simplify the origami process. The method encourages users to complete the process as the graphic is not visible until the last steps.

The graphic in the middle would be a vector graphic of an iconic buildng, delicacy, attire etc to give away the destination. The end piece creates a lasting impression on a partner and can be kept as a piece of memorabilia for the trip.
