About me
Sandika has done a broad array of projects in fashion, product, packaging and service design. From these she has learnt a variety of skills, which she incorporates in her design processes, constantly expanding her skill set. During a placement at the Barclays Design Office, she also learnt interaction and graphic design while working on an interactive dashboard for senior employees. Specialising in 3D design and modelling, she excels in the field of 3D printing with Solidworks as her dominant software. However, she also makes use of other 3D design tools such as Rhino and Meshlab, competently. Her creative software skills further extend to the use of the Adobe Creative Suite and Axure for other elements of design such as photo editing, business presentations, marketing accessories and wireframing.

  • Valentines on Eurostar
Valentines on EurostarA promotions and advertising brief to promote Valentine's Day on Eurostar. The concept focuses on the ticketing element of the experience and finding out where one is going. As a promotional offer, customers would be able to buy a surprise ticket for their loved one to receive a Eurostar monogrammed envelope which would include a set of origami instructions. By completing the instructions, the surprise destination would be revealed. The process started off looking at 3D origami models such as
  • Keeping Dry
Keeping DryDesign a toy or aid for games that includes an element of water resistance for a target market of children aged 7 - 12 years. The product is a 'waterproof vest' which children can wear during water fights. The targets are screenprinted with hydrochromatic ink to reveal a graphic when hit with water. They can be moved and stuck elsewhere on the jacket due to velcro strips, allowing children to create different levels of difficulty in their play. The vest is adjustable so can be manufactured as one size only. An accessory to the vest is the ammo belt. Also adjustable in size, there are 9 elasticated holds to store 'magazines' of water ammo or additional water guns. Furthering the product for future development, the front of the vests could be interchangeable. While the back stays the same, the front vest could be bought in a variety of designs, encouraging a broader audience. Simple, comical targets that are colourful when wet on a plain front vest is ideal for a younger audience, while an army patterned vest turning red when hit with water may appeal to a slightly older audience.
  • M&S Sustainable Packaging
M&S Sustainable PackagingLive brief designing packing for M&S cheese and wine gifting and a bespoke Easter egg, keeping in line with their Plan A initiative. The cheese gifting design looks appealing with all the contents visible in its time on the shelf. The barrel shape is a very traditional shape for gifts, with a simple ribbon to complete the look. The ribbon is released from the bottom to take the entire enclosure off rather than just the lid, creating an attractive centre piece style presence on the dining table. A conceptual solution for the bespoke Easter egg, the ‘egg cup’ at the bottom holds the base of the egg in place, where the ribbon of pulled sugar creates a rigid structure to hold the upper half, part supported by a tube of praline eggs kept in place on a podium. The egg cup becomes a lasting feature in the home and can be used as a serving dish for the praline eggs. An in context render shows the design sitting amongst other existing Easter eggs on the shelves of M&S.

  • D.O.S.T
D.O.S.TThis is a collaborative project creating temporary solutions for water hygiene. Mosquitos lay eggs on the top of stagnant water which transfers diseases such as legionella, cyanobacteria and single-celled amoeba. This project aims to prevent that happening. disturbing water A screw into the ground stabilises the product. The pole connects through and a pebble weighs down the end. The string has a changeable length from a system at the back. Through the day the solar panels power the motor and charge the battery. During night the battery powers the motor. This lasts about 7 hours which provides movement during the peak hours where the mosquitos lay eggs.
