Viscid Matter - Beauty Campaign

Viscid Matter is a beauty shoot that treads the line between the grotesque and the beautiful. Inspiration for the shoot came from research into the polluting effects of chewing gum and the shocking statistics reported which suggest it contributes to around 100,000 tonnes of plastic pollution per year. Working with MUA Keli Cartwright-Hughes Daisie drew up looks that felt bold and textural and were reminiscent of gum, to which Keli responded by making a variety of brightly coloured pieces that allowed for looks to be created organically on the day. Photographer Dan Commons captured a mix of high key portraits typical of more traditional beauty campaigns, and more abstract portraits capturing the colours and atmosphere of the looks.
