I was inspired by the works of Yayoi Kusama, particularly her piece “Infinity Mirrored Room”. A small room containing thousands of tiny LED’s which reflect off of the rooms mirrored surface, these reflections then create an immense feeling of immersion. She only lets one person in the room at one time, to help them experience the “infinite” atmosphere.
I have always been interested in creating immersive environments, personally I feel more attached to a piece if I am apart of it.My idea was to create an immersive open space within a small confined space. The illusion of infinite time trough the use of sound waves and a sketch containing a mass of small particles triggered by the users movements. The particles then follow the user to help create that feeling of immersion and infinity.
I decided to use Processing and TSPS to trigger and create a dot sketch which would follow the user around a small space via the XBox Kinect.
